Washington National Cathedral honors the feast day of Saint Francis of Assisi (c. 1180–1226), patron saint of animals and the environment, with a yearly Blessing of the Animals service on the Cathedral’s west steps this Sunday, October 5, 2014 at 2:30 p.m. All pets and their caretakers are invited to attend.
Regardless of your religious or spiritual beliefs (or lack thereof), this is a really nice, if a bit chaotic, event with all manner of dogs, cats, fish, guinea pigs, pet pigs, iguanas, etc getting a personal blessing from Natl Cathedral clergy. If you can't make it to the National Cathedral, there are a couple of other places of worship that have similar events this weekend. You might want to let this group know more by posting about them here.
