City Council to Discuss Dog Park on November 24

The City Manager will present the proposed Takoma-Piney Branch/Heffner dog park budget at the Monday, November 24 Council meeting. While there is not yet a specific time set for discussion, the work session discussion will likely occur at 8:00 p.m. or later.

The City Manager will likely be presenting the possibility of only building a small portion of the dog park now, with a promise of the full dog park at a later date. If that proposal were adopted, the entire City of Takoma Park would be using a 4200 square foot dog park — that's an area only about 65 feet by 65 feet! Should this small park be built, it will likely result in immediate overuse due to immense crowding.

Take action now and write the City Council using our Take Action link. Tell the City Council to budget sufficient funds to build both the small and large dog sections of the dog park.

And please block out the evening of November 24th on your calendar to come testify to City Council that you support building the entire dog park this year.
