City Council to Discuss Dog Park Location at Monday's Meeting

The Takoma Park City Council will discuss proposed dog park locations at Monday, May 19th's meeting.  Public comments on the dog park will be taken at approximately 7:30 p.m., with the actual discussion following around 8:45 p.m., according to the meeting agenda.  Although the primary topic will be the location of the planned park, any dog park topics may be offered during the public comment period.

If you wish to submit a public comment in support of the Takoma-Piney Branch Park parking lot site (also known as Heffner Park), please either plan to attend and speak during the public comment portion of the meeting, or visit our Take Action page. You can also watch the City Council meeting live at this link.

According to the report prepared by City staff, "City staff have evaluated potential locations for a dog park(s) and intend to discuss with Council the opportunities and challenges of these sites. In addition, staff will discuss some preliminary next step considerations dependent on particular locations and some preliminary cost figures."

Council also scheduled a public hearing on the dog park for Monday, June 2 at 7:00 p.m. in the Takoma Park Community Center.  Please mark your calendar and plan to be there to testify in favor of the dog park.
