TakomaDogs will again this year be featured in the Takoma Park 4th of July Parade, this Friday, July 4th. Bring your kids, bring your pooch, or just bring yourself and walk with us in this year's parade. The more walkers the better, as we show Takoma Park that we support the dog park. RSVP to walk here.
TakomaDogs has an early place in the line-up for Takoma Park's 4th of July Parade: we're the 2nd group in Division Two so will be done before it gets hot. We had a good turn-out last year and parade spectators were very enthusiastic about a dog park in Takoma Park - in fact, several parade watchers joined the group and walked with us along the route!
All are welcome to join us, including friendly dogs on leashes. We will meet at the corner of Manor Circle and Carroll Ave, across from Bikram Yoga. Please be there around 9:30 a.m., but not later than 9:45 as the parade starts at 10:00 a.m. (note that streets in the area will close at 9:00 a.m.). The parade route is a little over one mile, traveling Carroll to Maple and ending at Maple and Ritchie.
Wear your TakomaDogs t-shirt if you have one (if you'd like to buy one, cost is $15). Send an email to Joe Edgell so he can bring a shirt for you. You're also encouraged to make signs and posters in support of the dog park and bring them along. And don't forget water for your dog. We'll have small flyers to pass out to the crowd as well.
We're looking forward to seeing you at the parade!
