Have you ever applied pesticides, cleaned your house, or used other chemicals in or around your home? Remember that smell and wondering whether those chemicals had some longterm health effect?
Cancer rates in dogs have been sharply increasing as people increase the use of cosmetic lawn chemicals. People want green lawns through any means necessary. But dogs spend their walks with their noses in the grass, deeply inhaling. When they sniff, they inhale lawn chemicals including pesticides and fertilizers. These chemicals impact your dog's health, including increasing cancer risk.
Please come to Thursday’s County Council committee hearing at 9:30 a.m. in the 3rd floor hearing room at 100 Maryland Ave, Rockville, MD 20850 to testify that you want to see a strong Montgomery County cosmetic lawn pesticide bill. Green lawns are fine, but they should not come at the expense of the health of our family members, including our pets. Only strong legislation banning cosmetic lawn pesticides will make a difference. Let's give the rest of Montgomery County the benefits we enjoy here in Takoma Park.

It's so important for Council to see your support in person this Thursday! Every person in the audience makes a huge difference as we go up against a very powerful and well-funded chemical industry and many industry lobbyists.
A strong, protective law to stop the use of toxic pesticides, herbicides must go hand-in-hand with education for any real change.
Please take a few seconds to sign the LETTER NOW asking Council to REJECT Councilmember Berliner's watered down changes that would take away residents' protections in the bill: bit.ly/RejectBerlinerChanges
Thank you for your continual support!
