Things have been going slow at the dog park. Because the City could not install the K9 Grass during the cold winter months, City staff decided to slow down construction on the other parts of park construction as well, much to our dismay. This week they completed stormwater control structure installation.
The City originally installed plastic culverts, but apparently decided that they needed to upsize the stormwater structures to handle additional runoff from the school, which sits above the dog park. As a result, they reconfigured the rock rip-rap at the top of the park and now have installed several concrete stormwater structures under the park. City staff inform us that this work is finally finished. This should mean that final preparations can begin for installation of the crushed granite and K9 Grass.
We continue to push City staff to move this along. We asked if a March opening were possible. While they noted that it was "possible," they were unwilling to commit to an opening date yet for fear that they would miss it.
As a result, we wait with no opening date commitment.
Definitely check out the construction photo gallery to see what they've been up to. The are shown in chronological order, so if you only want to see the most recent photos, hit the arrow on the left side of the first photo.
